The Club Pickleball Sutton Friendly Tournament held on August 29 under ideal weather conditions was a true success. Sixty-one enthusiastic and determined players took part in the debut of a new team-based format. The goal was to create an atmosphere that was both inclusive and slightly competitive where every team had a shot at winning the tournament right up to the very end, and that goal was definitely achieved.
The suspense peaked during the final rounds, which saw extremely tight scores, a trend also reflected in the final team standings. The outcome came down to just a few points. In fact, almost any team could have taken top honours. But as in any competition, there must be winners... Congratulations to our medalists! Congratulations also to all the other participants for giving it their all, both on the courts during their matches and from the sidelines with their enthusiastic cheering. What wonderful team spirit!
We look forward to repeating the experience next year... perhaps even twice!
